Tigers - U14 and U17s write-up 22 July 2006 Under 14s The boys took on ladder leaders Cowra. The Tigers started the game ll revved up and went into the first break two goals in front. he Blues slowly worked their way back into the game and started to uild a handy lead over the Tigers in a free flowing game. By three quarter time Cowra had a match winning lead, but Orange never quit and kicked two goals in the final quarter, playing the game till the final siren. Jayden Phillips scored a quick thinking goal when he soccered one through the big sticks. Dan Cooper had his colours lowered by Cowra's best in the second quarter, but he showed his class and lifted to be one of the best by the final quarter. Other boys in the forward line like Mitchell Jones and James Clark worked hard with their limited opportunities was great to see new boys Michael and Sam Rothnie at the club. Not only is Michael quick whenever he gets the ball, he also shows a very handy sidestep and has already added a lot of drive to the teams midfield.
Orange Ex-Services Tigers 5 - 2 - 32 Cowra Blues 17 - 9 - 111
Under 17s For one reason or another Cowra find it difficult to put a full team on the paddock when they travel and unfortunately a lot of the players who ran onto the field in this match were backing up from the earlier Under 14s game. Orange had 12 goals on the board by quarter time when the coach offered two of his best players to the opposition to make a game of it. As it turned out Mitch Farrell and Tom Derwin were easily Cowra's best and they made Orange start to earn their kicks. Mitch and Justin Spitoff had fantastic duels in the ruck at the centre bounces and Tom stopped the Tigers forward line from taking any more uncontested marks. For Orange, John Cooper put in a four quarter effort from the midfield. Josh Webster took his most spectacular mark in his five seasons at the club when he flew in from the side over Cowra's shoulders. Glen Dunkley kicked 6 goals from the half forward flank in his best game for the club.

Tigers - U14 and U17s write-up 15 July 2006 Under 14s Playing conditions could not have been tougher for the fellas in their game against Mudgee. About an inch of rain fell during the first half and more than a third of the ground was submerged in 5 to 10 cm of water. Despite the difficult conditions, the boys gave their all but no matter which end they were kicking to, it always seemed like they kicking against the current and lost by 55 points. Mudgee to their credit, handled the conditions better and positioned their two biggest players one kick a head of the play. Every time Orange fought so hard to clear the ball from the backline, the two big blokes from Mudgee fired the ball straight back in. Paul Elliott picked up a thousand possessions at full back and handled the ball like it was dry day. Jedd McDonell, James Goldsack and Kurt Meecham never stopped working and trying to get the ball past the two big blokes from Mudgee. Their persistence finally payed off and Jedd and Kurt both kicked goals in the last quarter. Little blokes from Orange like Stewie Marshall, Jack Livingstone and Tyson Hannus played most of game knee deep in water, but that didn't stop them from taking a big breath and duck diving to the bottom of the pack to get the ball. Orange Ex-Services Tigers 2 - 0 - 12 Mudgee Black Swans 9 - 3 - 67 Under 17s When conditions are this tough, it is interesting to see how the boys respond and adjust their game. Nothing seemed to change for rover Liam Dwyer and ruckman Justin Spitoff. Liam won every centre clearance from Justin's deft ruckwork and then sprinted flat out, leaving a wake before thumping the ball its full measure. In front of goals, the big man combination of Sam Fitzgerald and Nathan Enevoldsen were teaming up brilliantly and kicked 11 goals between them. They adjusted their marking style and pulled in one chest mark after another, and Nathan was still kicking his freaky goals from impossible angles. What the big guys weren't marking, the small crumbers like Adam Kearl and Jacob Bowden were cleaning up and putting through the big sticks. Nick Farrell and Tom Derwin were kicking goals from the half forward line. Peter Williams easily took the mark of the day. He went up in the middle of the pack against taller and stronger opponents, collided solidly in the air and came down with the ball safely buried in his arms. Orange Ex-Services Tigers 23 - 19 - 157 Mudgee Black Swans 1 - 1 - 7 Under 14s Sometimes during school holidays when boys from all sides are away its hard to know if the scores are a true indication of the teams performance. There was a lot to be pleased about with the young Tigers win over an under-manned Dubbo. The Tigers coach was happy with the way every boy contributed to the sides win. Six boys scored goals. Tom Goldsack played his best game for the season and kicked three goals and almost out did older brother James who kicked four. Shaun Templar continued on from the good form he showed in his previous game and kicked a quick thinking goal - just the way a good forward pocket should. Senior players Paul Elliott, Joe Webster and Daniel Cooper were the other goal scorers. jake and Tyson Hannus were great team players and Jedd McDonell is playing with a lot of on-field leadership. The boys playing in mid- field and defence didn't give Dubbo any goal scoring chances. Well Done Tigers Orange Ex-Services AFL Tigers 16 - 12 - 108 Dubbo Demons 0 - 2 - 2 Under 17s Dubbo started the match with a lot of players unavailable. This gave the Tigers coach an opportunity to try boys in unfamiliar positions and he made a few discoveries. Rock solid defenders like James Young and Glenn Dunkley were moved to the forward line and they excelled. ames thrived on the freedom of being able to leave his player and he completely dominated. He kicked one goal and set up countless opportunities with his powerful kicks to the top of the goal square. Glenn has a very steady set of hands and held a few great marks and finished off with two majors. Jacob Bowden loves to get the ball and run. He kicked three goals and was unlucky not to kick a few more. Ben McKenna and Liam Dwyer ran in straight lines through the mid- field. Nathan Enevoldsen only needed half a game at full forward to kick 5 goals. He is part Plugger, part magician. Daniel Cooper was deadly in the forward pocket. The stand out feature of the game was the boys teamwork, particularly he handball to a team mate running past and the constant talk. Shaun Templar backed up from his U14 match and shared the umpiring duties in the U17s and did a great job in control of the match. Orange Ex-Services AFL Tigers 20 - 19 - 129 Dubbo Demons 0 - 1 - 1 Tigers Juniors Writeup 20 May 06 Under 14s Maybe it was the first sign of damp weather, maybe it was the boys staying up too late on Friday night, but regardless of what the club songs says, something affected the way the under 14s played against top-of-the-ladder Cowra on Saturday at Anzac Park. The whole team was very sluggish for the first three quarters. They couldn't get into the game. But in the last quarter they lifted. They showed glimpses of the skills and the teamwork they have been working on during the week on the training track. Joe Webster had his best game for the season, and starred in the last quarter. The other boys, particularly the smaller ones kept running and chasing and contesting, but too often they were out numbered by Cowra around the fall of the ball. It was great to see so many parents around the boundary line supporting the boys. Cowra Blues 12 - 9 - 81 Under 17s
